Former Legal Interns


ELENA SYMAN
Elena Syman, a third-year student at Columbia Law School, was Bantle & Levy’s summer 2022 intern and will be externing with the firm during the upcoming semester. Prior to law school, Elena worked as a paralegal in the Rackets Bureau at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, with a primary focus on organized crime and counterterrorism. During law school, Elena has interned at Prisoners’ Legal Services and externed at Kaplan Hecker & Fink. Elena hopes to pursue a career in civil rights litigation based in New York following her graduation in May 2023.


SUSANNAH COHEN
Susannah Cohen is a recent graduate of Columbia Law School with a passion for civil rights law. At Columbia, Susannah was a Public Interest/Public Service Fellow, served as a Notes Editor for the Columbia Law Review, and published “Redefining What It Means to Discriminate Because of Sex: Bostock’s Equal Protection Implications” in the Columbia Law Review. During law school, she worked in the Civil Rights Bureau of the New York Attorney General’s Office, the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and Bantle & Levy LLP. Susannah was a James Kent Scholar and won the Pauline Berman Heller Prize for outstanding record of academic achievement in the service of gender equality.
Prior to law school, Susannah graduated magna cum laude from Columbia College with a B.A. in American Studies with honors. After graduating, she is working as a Law Clerk at Kaplan Hecker & Fink LLP and then will be clerking for the Second Circuit and United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York.


JULIO SHARP-WASSERMAN
Julio Sharp-Wasserman interned with Bantle & Levy in 2018 and 2019 while a law student at Columbia Law School, during which time he assisted the firm with, among other things, multiple matters in the New York City Commission on Human Rights. He subsequently worked as a fellow with the New York Legal Assistance Group’s Special Litigation Unit and a judicial law clerk with the Honorable Lawrence E. Kahn in the Northern District of New York, before joining Outten & Golden’s Class Action Practice Group as an associate in 2021.
